Responsible for the provision of effective employment services to include discovery services, career exploration, job development, job site training and job retention services.  Provide program management services for assigned consumers referred from Vocational Rehabilitation, Medicaid Waiver or BDDS.  Services may be provided to potential consumers attending high school.  Responsible for profitable operations and quality services.

Specific Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide employment services to include career exploration, discovery services, job development, job matching, job training and retention services.

  • Provide program management services to assigned consumers, coordinating and implementing the Discovery Profile, Employment Supports and Retention Plan and all other required forms.

  • Maintain accurate and thorough forms, records and reports as required, or at minimum, monthly.

  • Provide transportation and personal assistance to consumers as needed and approved, to achieve employment and retention.

  • Function with a flexible work schedule that is constantly altered due to consumer/employer needs.

  • Demonstrate skill in assessing and meeting needs of the business community.

  • Demonstrate knowledge or ability to learn about services, resources and regulations related to achieving employment outcomes to include Social Security, Medicaid, and other related plans as appropriate.

  • Ability to work with consumers experiencing a diverse range of abilities.

  • Provide coverage for other staff as schedule dictates.

Environmental Conditions

Work is performed in a variety of settings dependent on employment and evaluation site of clients served.  Exposure to noise, heat, cold, humidity and other environmental conditions is expected. Time is spent driving to numerous businesses and other locations within the area.

Equipment operated

Standard office equipment including personal computers and cell phones. Additional technology as needed to meet client needs.  Other equipment and tools used are dependent on the task and employment site of clients receiving services.  Operates personal vehicle or arranges own transportation.

Position Requirements

Preference of Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation, Psychology or appropriate alternative.  Consideration will be given for an Associate’s degree and one year of related work experience or a high school diploma and two years of related work experience.  Work experience with individuals experiencing a disability as well as experience in a variety of employment settings is preferred.  Requires effective communication skills, both verbal and written.  Driver’s license, good driving record and reliable transportation is required.  No evidence of illegal drug use or drug abuse.  Must pass a drug screen.  No evidence of criminal activity involving a dependent population or any violent criminal activity.  Bending walking and stooping, as well as lifting up to 50 pounds, to assist clients as needed.  Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet client’s employment needs.
